Do I need to back up my Amazon S3 content?

I understand that Amazon S3 is located in the cloud and does not need to be backed up because they have it all in place. Do I understand this correctly or should I still support it? I am considering moving all my images to Amazon S3 instead of locally hosting it on my server.

Even though Amazon itself may have redundancy, you probably need a backup of the site if they decide you don't like them. Recently, a message was published that the hosting company (and not Amazon) is blocking someone from its system and basically keeps everything hostage.
