Geospatial support, SQL Server 08 vs. MongoDB?

MongoDB has a lot of street lenders, especially since FourSquare has been using it. MS SQL Server 2008 R2 also has geospatial support.

Which database is easier / better to search by GPS? e.g. k-nearest points around point X, Y?
