How to write memory usage log in ASP.NET

Question

We had a problem with memory on production servers. What API can we use to get the use of physical memory in real time (physical and managed) of an ASP.NET application?

Thank.

PS: we are not allowed to profile memory with tools.

Also, lack of memory does not necessarily mean what you think. Severe memory fragmentation due to over-creation of an object can be recorded both out of memory, as the GC cannot find a contiguous block of memory large enough for the next (or last) location.
