Win32 virtual folder api

this software can mount zip / iso archives in a virtual folder created in the same directory with the same name as the archive file. and the source files become invisible.

Can anyone tell me how this works in the background? some drivers are installed in it.

I think it causes intercepts of file system calls. Hides the source file, shows the folder, hijacks file manipulation functions, if it works with the file inside the virtual folder .. and does some mapping to the archive. It can also control visibility for the owner or system .. manage read / write permissions to other users .. therefore, hooks must know the user ID. I'm right?
