Send a SharePoint alert to a public folder in Exchange

I have created a list and alert settings that are sent to multiple individuals when a new item is added to the list. However, I have one more requirement to send a warning message to a public folder in Exchange.

The folder is configured with the email address, VSrequest@domain.com , but when I try to add this address to the "Send alerts" field (when creating a new alert), SharePoint returns an error: "No Exact matches."

I was thinking of setting up an alert in a user workflow using the SharePoint designer, but is there a way to easily reuse an existing Alert Email as a template for a custom alert body?

Any other ideas or pointers would be greatly appreciated!

You cannot send a warning to a regular email address (or mailbox) because it is not associated with a user / group. If he is not associated with a user / group, then he cannot have access rights to any list or list items in SharePoint. Finally, if it does not have permissions, it cannot receive a warning (or it will be a pretty big security hole).
