Creating animations using embedded javascript

I am interested in creating various types and types of javascript animations using traditional javascript (without frameworks) and canvas. My question is, can someone point me to resources (books / sites, etc.) that would be useful. I know that many frameworks already exist, but my training object is an understanding of the main language.

Animation is basically an attribute change over time . To do this, use setIntervalto make sure that the change takes effect gradually . At each step, you calculate the current value of the attribute by interpolating between the two values, given the elapsed time. As a last touch, you can add relief to your animations to make transitions smooth between states. You can also add animation queues.
