Boot Consumer Sites

I want to download a consumer test website. I tried using JMeter. However, in this case, all requests are taken from the same machine. I really want to simulate real users across the country on low-speed dial-up connections, and others at high speed.

What are the best practices in this scenario?

JMeter supports distributed testing - therefore, if you are already used to it as a tool, you can use it to power these distributed requests from an arbitrary number of machines.
