Is myisam table type really better for log table (mysql)?

I read whether to use myisam or innodb for a log table (many entries, very few reads). While some people say that myisam is faster and less resource intensive, other people say that myisam will actually be the worst choice as it only has table-level locking.

Does anyone have real experience in this situation and share your recommendations?

MyISAM is good if you mostly record with just a few requests or most often with a few messages.
