Installing the Air application from a DVD drive

Question

We have an Adobe Air app. Now we will make a DVD ship for potential customers. How can I be sure that the client can open this .air file if they do not have adobe Air installed? I also saw that Mac often wants to open .air files in applescript (also if Air is installed).

I know there is an installation icon. But I think that they do not work with local .air files. Or is there a way to set a local .air with an icon?
