Creating a domain name check

I wonder how to do domain name verification (accessibility testing) for top-level domains?

Eg. to check if a domain is available: stackoverflow.com or stackoverflow.dk or not.

Do I need to subscribe to a service to do this, or is there some kind of simple magic behind such a test?

thank

The best thing would be to create an object webRequestto hide the whois request. You can then parse the results from HTML using a regular expression. I have done this several times and it works well (assuming the underlying website is not changing)
