Compatibility between New-WebServiceProxy and the proxy server

Did I miss something?

Does new-webserviceproxy support proxy credentials?

Corporate environments invariably use proxies to communicate with the rest of the Internet, and I cannot get new-webserviceproxy to talk through ours. I get 407 proxy authentication of the requested error in response - the credential argument for the credentials for the web service is not for the proxy server.
