Errno 9 using a multiprocessor module with Tornado in Python

For operations on my Tornado server that are expected to be blocked (and cannot easily be modified to use things like the Tinnado asynchronous HTTP request client), I offloaded the work to separate workflows using a module multiprocessing. In particular, I used multiprocessing Poolbecause it offers a method called apply_asyncthat works very well with Tornado, since it takes a callback as one of its arguments.

Recently, I realized that the pool determines the number of processes, so if all of them become blocked, operations that require a new process will have to wait. I really understand that the server can still accept connections, since it apply_asyncworks by adding things to the task queue, and most likely ends immediately, myself, but I'm looking to create n processes for n number of lock tasks that I need to complete.

I decided that I could use the method add_handlerfor my Tornado IOLoop server to add a handler for every new PID that I create for this IOLoop. I used to do something similar, but used popen and an arbitrary command. An example of this use of this method is here . I wanted to pass arguments to an arbitrary Python target function in my scope, so I wanted to stick multiprocessing.

However, it seems that something does not like the PID that my objects have multiprocessing.Process. I get it IOError: [Errno 9] Bad file descriptor. Are these processes limited? I know that the PID is not available until I start this process, but I am starting this process. Here is the source code for the example I made that demonstrates this problem:
