Amazon EC2 Reserved and Remote Instances

From the billing it is clear that we bought 4 reserved copies of EC2 in 2 lots of 2 at the beginning of this year.

We are currently using 2 instances of EC2.

In the list of purchased reserved instances, I can see that 2 are listed as active and 2 as deleted. Can you tell me what “retired” means, and if they are still usable?

thank

"Retired" means that the purchase of a reserved instance is no longer valid.

In addition to the previously indicated expiration or billing period, another reason for reserving a reservation is when you change your reservation. This is when you convert the instance size to another. For example, 1x m1.xlarge instances in 8x m1.small instances.
