Datastore APIs and Data Warehouse Requests

There are two elements in the Quota Details section (appengine toolbar) in the Storage section.

Datastore APIs with a limit of 141,241,791

Data Warehouse Requests with a Limit of 417,311,168

What is the difference between the two? And why is the last limit 3 times greater?

Retrieving objects from a data warehouse or writing objects to a data warehouse are API calls, and none of them require a request. Remember that the data warehouse does not use SQL; A "query" is only performed when searching for objects whose index records match your criteria, and not for any other operation.

To complement Wooble's excellent answer, here's what the docs say:

Datastore APIs

The total number of times the application retrieved, created, updated, or deleted an object or executed a query in the data warehouse.
