I seem to be breaking my mysql client when I enter the Postgres command. Any ideas how to undo this?

Note. I use the bash shell for an almost new installation of osx 10.6. This is not like a friend who is on zsh

I'm used to Postgres, so I often instinctively type

\d tablename

instead

desc tablename ;

When I do this, the mysql client is not very happy

mysql> \d items
mysql> ;
    -> desc items;
ERROR 1064 (42000): You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ';
    ->

pay attention to how my invitation changes after the moment "oh crap". It seems to be locked in this procedure where all sql commands are considered invalid.

I had not yet figured out a sequence that had not yet eluded her; and I did not understand what was going on.
