This is a pretty general question as I have no convincing evidence.
I have an iPhone app with approximately 20,000 users. It allows users to communicate with each other and store these messages in the master data. The only thing it saves in the main data is the user profile, local copy and copy on the server.
I have a small percentage of users complaining that they receive messages, but doesn’t show anything, when they send a message (which immediately enters the main data and then appears on the screen), it disappears immediately. Nothing but a full recovery seems to fix it, and from what I can collect, even a recovery that includes restoring the backup they just made does not fix it.
My first thought was that the main data must have been corrupted in some way ... but the messages they are trying to send do send, and that would not be possible if their local profile was also corrupted.
I could never recreate it or find someone face to face who had a similar problem.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what might happen in the master data that could lead to such a situation so that I can start trying to identify the problem? I would rate this with approximately 1% of users.

Just to clarify, uninstall the application and reinstall it, does not fix the problem when this happens.
