Need to record video using DSLR using SDK


I want to be able to control a DSLR camera to start / stop video recording.
Canon has a good SDK, but it seems that video capture is not supported.
Does anyone know if the Nikon SDK supports this? Maybe there is a workaround for shooting videos using the Canon SDK?

This seems to be impossible with the Canon SDK. I solved this with a hack - with a USB IR transmitter that sends a signal used by Canon Remote to start / stop video. Ugly but working.
