Thoughts on using a third-party shopping cart in iFrame

We have a customer who wants to use a third-party shopping cart on their website, but the URL we need to send to our customers looks pretty ugly and there is no way to do skinning. Customer raised using iFrame to save the shopping cart on their website.

If both sites had SSL, so at least the lock would still be, what do you think of this practice? Poorly? Any security issues? Better than sending them to another page that looks completely different? Maybe people are used to this practice right now thanks to things like Paypal and Google Checkout?

You will not be able to transmit information via the IFrame, especially if it is in a different domain (due to security reasons). Read about the same domain policy .

Using paypal and google checkout usually means that you redirect the user to the verification site after the redirection to your site is complete.

Another popular way to interact with such sites is to use their APIs (usually open as web services). This allows you to stay on your site and communicate with cashiers - this works more, since you need to develop your own verification and create a communication level.
