Intercepting Date objects originating from BlazeDS and adjusting time zone differences

I am working on an application that is near the end of the development cycle and is mostly testing users. We recently realized that the lack of a timeline for converting flex to a client local time zone is undesirable, since all our dates are in EST and do not contain time data. Since BlazeDS sends dates in UTC, this results in dates being converted a day earlier in time zones west of EST.

The best solution is to move and reorganize all dates to adjust the time zone offset, but at this stage it is simply not possible. Since all dates in our application do not care about time, I would really like to be able to intercept all Date objects that collide with BlazeDS and adjust the time zone offset. Is it possible to do this? If not, are there any cross-cutting solutions?
