Access English Dictionary on iOS

Question

I want users to be able to find word definitions inside their iPad app. Is there a way to access the English dictionary in iOS, as iBooks do, or do I need to switch to an external API?

I ran into the same problem when I created my first iphone app. I solved this by inserting a dictionary into my application. Since then, I have turned my solution into a static library, available at www.lexicontext.com (note that the library costs a few dollars). I do not know other solutions.
