Can Cygwin access Windows Hidden Shares?

Is there a way to access the hidden Windows folder from Cygwin?

I tried:

cd //server/c$
cd //server/c'$'
cd //server/'c$'
cd //server/c\$

Cygwin does not like "$".

EDIT: I also tried installing the drive on a network share and accessing it from Cygwin (as djondal suggests below), but without joy. For a drive displayed in Z:, / cygdrive / z is not recognized even after it is installed in cygwin (mount Z: / cygdrive / z)

Thank.

Try mapping the network drive Z: to // server /, and then the letter you select will be available in / cygdrive / z /

ls //HOSTID/c$/"documents and settings"

The above works fine for me in cygwin under win7
