I just want to know how a hacker can set up a reverse proxy in front of a website (e.g. www.xyz.com) to steal user information. A simple example will be more than enough. If the user types www.xyz.com in a web browser, is it possible that the request goes through the reverse proxy configured by the hacker, or it will look like a phishing attack, where the address in the web browser should be different from the real website.

A reverse proxy is used to add features to the web server, such as load balancing, security, and caching.

In order for the hacker to take advantage of this, they would have to deceive the user by going to a different address from your real one (phishing), and then using a reverse proxy to make it look like they were on a real site.

Using a locally installed application or virus, you can modify the hosts file or intercept DNS queries to redirect traffic to a real address, but this is much less common than phishing.
