Python vs Flash

Can python be used as a language for developing browser-based games? Like in flash. If so, which frames are available for dirty hands? If not, what are the reasons?

Try Panda3D. I previously used it to create and deploy three-dimensional gaming environments that run in the browser (runtime is required). Works for Mac. Linux and Windows.
