Oracle 11g jdbc driver compatible with oracle 10g database?

I am currently using the thin Oracle 10g ojdbc14.jar driver to access the Oracle 10g database.

I want to update the driver to the thin ogdbc6.jar Oracle 11g driver in front . The actual database server update is in progress.

Using the 11g driver against the 10g DB seems good in testing so far, but I'm wondering if anyone can confirm this. I looked at Oracle docs and Readme files but didn't see anything.

This question is similar to this , but it was not for Java and does not seem to give a definitive answer.

Yes, up and down compatibility is usually pretty good. I have successfully used this configuration several times in the past.

Having said that, I remember one case when we had a problem calling a stored procedure that returned an open cursor to a Java application. Returning to the old version of the OJDBC driver, she solved it. At that time, it was an Oracle 9i database.

So, with some testing you can make sure that it works.
