RichFaces application, should I use rich: dataTable or jQGrid, pluses minus?

Following here , I need to have a built-in editable grid in my web application using RichFaces 3.3.3, JSF 1.2, and Facelets.

My options is a rich:dataTableRichFaces control or a jQuery plugin, jQGrid

I tried both of them:

  • jQGrid works very well, but I'm not sure what will happen if I try to update JSF controls from the grid, if possible?
  • I hesitate to use or run RichFaces modal windows from jQGrid, can this cause problems? Or should I stick with simple jQuery modals?
  • To be sure of using jQGrid, does it look like I have to do a lot of my own plumbing while losing the benefits of richfaces controls? I'm right?
  • rich: dataTable does not have a scrollable table with fixed headers. richfaces has a scrollable table, but in-line editing has problems to solve this problem. (The headers disappear and the editing does not work properly)
  • rich: dataTable is not very customizable and there is some very nice opportunity to have functions that jqGrid has
  • rich: dataTable , js (, , , , , , ).
