Google App Engine + JSON + Authentication

Question

I am new to GAE (actually based on cloud computing) and I am looking for some tips.

I am looking to use GAE only as a service (REST + JSON) with my client side in Sproutcore. I am looking to find an easy service-oriented infrastructure that will provide me with reliable protection (authentication, XSS protection, etc.).

Java or Python is fine, speed and security are a priority.

Does anyone have any ideas on this? Any links to relevant information. I am moving on to the information overload phase. Any help in this regard would be greatly appreciated!
