Why is the code from Android SDK tutorials not working?

Did I miss something?

I exactly follow the instructions on this page (and some other tutorials), but they always seem to overlook some key information as they do not work out of the box.

I added a bunch of packages that seemed to be missing, but now I'm stuck.

I also had this problem and resolved it by setting this line:

Toast.makeText(HelloGridView.this, "" + position, Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show();

to

Toast.makeText(HelloGridViewActivity.this, "" + position, Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show();

Adding import solved the problem for me.
And I found out that in fact in Eclipse they can be imported automatically:

"Tip. After you pasted the sample code into the Eclipse project, press Ctrl (or Cmd) + Shift + O to import the necessary packages."

Hope this updates what was missed.
