Setting custom cookies in firefox and chrome?

Is there any way to add cookies to them? Like "debug = true", and so my site can check for this?

I mean use ui in the browser.

Maybe a plugin / extension?

Basically, I want to be able to test certain functions without seeing them.

Firefox has a Web Developer plugin. This allows you to add arbitrary cookies among MANY other things that are great for web development.

After installation, go to the cookie menu-> add cookie and fill in the information.
