Unable to Install Oracle 11g Client with OUI-10037 Error

I am trying to install the Oracle 11g client on my box, which is currently installed by Oracle 9i . I keep getting this error when I press "NEXT" when the wizard starts:

OUI-10037: Unable to configure inventory. You May Not Have Appropriate Permissions

Since I am registered as a local Admin , this does not make much sense. The only thing I found on another forum was to delete the "oraInst.loc" file from my machine. But I can not find this file anywhere in my system.

I would really appreciate it if someone could advise a solution to this problem ...

You should run orainstRoo.sh and then touch /oraInventory/test.txt, which works for me. Greetings
