Hello World example does not work on OS X

I am completely new to Android and I am following this tutorial . My problem is that the Adroid emulator does not display Hello World text, it just displays "ANDROID" in the center of the screen, and no buttons work. Is this a problem, how can I fix it?

As Samir Segal said, the emulator really takes a lot of time. First, it displays “Android” in a small regular font, then it moves on to a larger, more beautiful, shiny font, and then it loads the OS. After the OS boots up, give it a few more seconds, and it should go directly to the application that you launched.

It takes a lot of time, but as soon as you download it, you can leave it open and run the application again and again. It only takes a few seconds each time from now on.
