Create a toaster effect message

Question

I am trying to replicate a Gmail Notifier popup. It disappears (opacity) and rises from the launchpad.

I managed to make fade in \ out using a timer and opacity, but like me:

A) make the form "pop up"? (I think its height grows with a timer from 0 to max?

B) Find the starting point exactly above the taskbar, as shown in all screen resolutions. \ Windows flavors?
