IPhone App - Approval and Version

I was hoping someone could answer a simple question for me ...

If you create an iphone app and get it approved for sale, what happens if you add updates to it? Do you also need to submit this for approval?

How does the whole process of updating existing applications work?

Help would be much appreciated, thanks

Yes, each update requires a new round of approval. After your first application is live, the control page for your application offers the “Add Version” button, which will guide you through a similar process with the original application, but with options for documenting the changes.

The update process is almost identical to the original view, except that you do not need to re-enter all the metadata (but you can change almost all of it, with the exception of the application identifier, when submitting updates).

The time for viewing updates historically varied in large numbers, slower or faster than the approval time of the original application, from 1 day to 1 month. Do not expect this to be less.
