Win search results with FTS above it with LIKE on indexed columns?

Subquestioning SQL Server 2005 full-text search

Will using FTS (full-text search) be faster than searching with tsql LIKE on indexed columns?

Why?
And how many?

yes FTS will be faster for searches in the middle of the column, for example, it will only be faster if what you are looking for is at the beginning of the column
