Full Screen Android App: Good Practice?

Is it good to develop a full screen application?

This is not a game, the full screen will just be nice to have more screen space for GUI elements. But I have a dull feeling that a full screen application may break some recommendations for a good application design. The developer's guide does not give an answer. Who knows more?

I learn how to develop on android, and it is very important for me to study it correctly.

In his private blog, Reto Meier (author of the Android book, powered by Google) advises everyone not to create full-screen applications. These applications will blog about the clock and notification area, and this will make the user unaware of every other application that they use.

I personally don’t even like the full-screen mode of some e-book readers, because I read these books at bus stops or on the train, and I need to quickly watch the clock while reading a book.
