JQuery Roundabout plugin does not scale text in Opera

Question

I tested the jQuery Roundabout plugin extensively and handled it well in Internet Explorer 6-8, Chrome, and Firefox.

We would also like to support Opera. However, it does not scale the text in moving elements, moving backward.

I would prefer not to post a link to my site. But the “official” example has the same error. Emoticons remain the same, regardless of the distance to the front:

How can this be done to work in Opera?
