I am relatively new to Magento and am working on creating a site for the client, and they just need a list of phrases used on the site to send to the translator. I'm a little surprised that there is nothing simple and built-in in Magento to easily pull this stuff out, which is why I'm writing right now. Is there a relatively easy way to extract translation phrases from a Magento app? Something built in this may not be obvious (for me)? or some useful library? This includes everything that is used in templates (or controllers):
$this->__("Some phrase on my website...");
... as well as cases in the XML layout where the attribute 'translate' is set, etc.
And, taking this step further, I know the available translations from Magento here: http://www.magentocommerce.com/translations - there is something just to make sure that I do not do it twice for phrases that may already exist in these packages ?
And yet, is there something to pull all translatable from the database?
And if the answer to all this turns out to be “no”, I need to be very thorough with this so that any advice on pitfalls or individual places I need to know where I can not think about pulling translations, as you could achieve something similar before etc. “I would like to hear your advice.” Thank!
