Multiple versions of the same browser on a PC

I am running Windows 7 on my machine. I have the following web browsers installed:

  • Opera
  • Google chrome
  • Safari (Windows Version)
  • Firefox 3.6
  • IE 8

I am developing on my local IIS web server and need cross-browser testing to develop .net web applications. Therefore, I need to have older versions of the above browsers installed on my machine, such as IE7, Firefox 3, etc.

What is the best approach for this? I have doubts that different versions may exist on the same machine. Do I need to use a virtual computer? Or are there any applications for such cross-browser testing?
