Why is it acceptable to expect Flash to be available / enabled, but not JavaScript?

It doesn’t take a lot of time when you surf the Internet to observe the general opinion that Flash is the expected standard, which can be said, “If you don’t have Flash, my site will not work.” However, in the same regard, it is expected that JavaScript will crash peacefully if the user does not enable it.

I personally favor the "HTML5" approach, unlike Flash, due to poor performance Flash brings Mac OS X and Linux

The general appearance of the Flash method compared to the JavaScript method seems to be the biggest challenge for me in the Forecast Steve Jobs HTML5, ahead of Flash , and I personally did not see any signs of change.

Did I miss something?

You are talking about completely different groups of people with completely different worldviews. That is why they say two different things. Very few people are fan-fan-fanatics and slave-devotees of progressive improvement.

For people who support Javascript, one of the main reasons that many do is because it is an open standard with free implementations, accessible to everyone, not just anyone who prefers Adobe. The feeling that web content should be accessible to everyone on the Internet also makes them hostile to Javascript, which takes the same “My Way or Highway” position that made them abandon Flash.

For example, I can see that the Flash part of the Google Analytics site will become an HTML5 way in the future. It suits him. But something like a street view of Google, I see no real reason to follow it along the HTML5 path (although I suspect that they can still).
