What is the best way to set long-term alerts / reminders from an Android app? I would like to display a notification a few weeks after the current date. I believe that there is no need to write a service to perform such a task. Will AlarmManager do the trick? Or should the application run daily and check?
After the start of the countdown, the upcoming warning should survive when updating the application from the Android Market.
