If you are an old programmer or a history of programming / computing, then what interesting programming / computing technology did you like that is marginalized today?

In other words, with what technology do you miss the old days?

APL , before I heard about functional languages, I had the opportunity to play with this language full of funny characters and mathematical operators. It was like hieroglyphs, but it was so succinct and expressive! And it was good to get nervous with my more traditional students studying in Pascal or C: p
