Differences between Flash and AIR

From a developer's point of view, are there any other differences between Flash and AIR for accounting other than certificate and AIR that do not support ActionScript 2.0?

Well, the obvious difference is that AIR runs on your desktop, not the browser. AIR runtime (that your swf runs inside when it is an AIR application) also gives you more access to user computers.

This is not a complete list, but here are a few functions that AIR has that a regular flash player does not:

  • access to local file system
  • sqlite database classes
  • webkit integration (for displaying html)
