Are Android AppWidgets limited for certain sizes?

I am making an Android AppWidget to sit on the main screen.

The user's original screen space is expensive, so I want the widget to be small. The ideal size would be 2x1 cells.

• In some documentation, are you offered any size that you like?
• But the AppWidget Graphic Design Guide implies that only standard sizes are supported: 4x1, 3x3, 2x2.
  • Does this apply to available Photoshop templates or is it a limitation of Android itself?
• I found that the 2x1 widget works on my device itself (HTC Wildfire), but expands to 2x2 on the emulator.
  • HTC has its own special home screen implementation , so maybe my widget will only work on 2x1 on HTC devices?

Is there a way to create a 2x1 widget or use a standard size?

My widget was adapted from the Simple Wiktionary example .

• There is android:minWidth="146dip"and in the manifestandroid:minHeight="72dip" .
• There is relativeLayout with android:layout_width="fill_parent" andandroid:layout_height="wrap_content"
