Is it possible to use different sortings (for each row) or add my own sorting in MySQL?

Problem

A friend is developing a Swedish vocabulary web application . One use will be for verifying words in Scrabble games. The Swedish Scrabble rules (in Swedish) allow, for example, “a” and “á” to be treated as the same letter, but not “u 'and' û 'or' y 'and' ü '. Swedish sorting rules ( latin1_swedish_ci ) think differently and refer to "y" and "ü" as one and the same letter, making the word "mysli" 'matches the correct word, although "muesli" should be written.

Three proposed solutions

Update : a third solution sentence has been added (in bold)

  • Use different sorts for different lines in the word table. Is it possible?
  • Cloning the Swedish definition of sorting, changing it and using it in MySQL. Can this be done easier than the methods described here ?
  • Add a new column to the table with special words. You can have different sortings by columns, right? Will the SQL query become very slow when searching for a word in both columns?

Other offers?

Can this be solved in another way?
