Easy way to export @ 2x images for retina display?

I create many web views that need to be compatible with both the Retina iPhone 4 display and devices up to iPhone 4. It is painstakingly exporting multiple files for each image.

Is there a script or utility to automate this process?

If you use Photoshop to process your work, you just need to record the action, resizing the image to 50% of its original width and height. Using the image processor (Files> Scripts> Image Processor), you can run an action on all images stored in the folder you specify. Images will be saved in a new location, so they are easy to rename.

Remember, however, that resizing images (even if the new resolution is smaller than the old one) can sometimes blur sharp and graphic content. If your work is mostly graphic in nature and was created in Adobe Illustrator (or a similar application), you must export various resolutions there.
