XNA 4.0 3D Vertex Example

I'm currently trying to make a simple square by combining two triangles, for example, in Rimer's textbooks ( Link to a textbook ), but since a lot has changed from 3.x to 4.0, it's hard for me. I would also like to know how to texture this “square”, so if someone could help me by giving some kind of example or in general, I would appreciate :)
