How to recursively search files in emacs by skipping .svn directories

I would like to search for files (either all of them, or matching a pattern) in a directory and subdirectories for a specific line. What I usually do in emacs is a search in names to display files and search for them, but also searches for all .svn directories that are wasteful and make it very slow for large projects. Is there a way to skip .svn directories?

Thank,

It looks like you should use grep in emacs . With grep, you can search for lines in files, and if you use this mod guy , grep ignores .svn directories.
