Web developers - what is the best tool for checking network traffic and what is your default browser?

I am completely new to web development and I have heard of all types of tools and plugins for checking network traffic.
The vast majority of my work is server-side, and I work with ASP.NET if it is relevant ..
At the moment I use Fiddler, which seems great, but I also heard about Firebug (for firefox) and ieHttpHeaders .. they are in the same categories like Fiddler, or do they serve a different purpose? Are there any other tools that I should know about?

As the default browser, I use Chrome because I consider it the fastest.

What do you use and why?

The Firebug net tab is useful for viewing network activity. It is slightly better integrated into the browser than Fiddler.

I use Firefox because I cannot live without some of my extensions. I usually use Firebug because of the good integration with Firefox and the extension. I have Fiddler installed for use with IE, as well as with the Firefox extension.

I also launch WireShark in case I need a deeper level of capture, packets.

Both are good. You can also try opera dragonfly , which is a bit different, but just as useful as those 2.

Ethereal can be very convenient for analyzing network protocols. Otherwise, firefox / firebug will become the main tools.

Firefox with firebug is good, you can also try Chrome, which includes a set of development tools.
