Is a Mac required for JDK (5 or 6) or Eclipse for Android app development?

I want to develop Android applications on Mac, but the information on http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html is confusing. Besides android-sdk_r06-mac_86.zip, do I need a Mac JDK or Eclipse?

The JDK installation page provides a link to Apple's download site "Java Developer Preview 10M3222 + 9M3222", which is a pre-release version. I am not sure if this is what I need. They also say somewhere that the Mac has already received the Java SDK by default and there is no need to install unnecessary ones, which makes it more confusing.

Do I need to install "Eclipse + ADT Plugin for Eclipse"?

I just checked and am not sure of the following: I don’t need to install any additional JDKs. Is Mac JDK 1.6.0_20 equivalent to JDK 6 of other platforms?

$ javac -version

javac 1.6.0_20

$ which javac

/ Usr / bin / javac

$ ls -la / System / Library / Frameworks / JavaVM.framework / Versions /

You do not need to install JDK on Mac OS, one is installed by default.

you can run the command javacto check for the presence of the JDK.

This is usually in /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.Framework/Versions/Current/

, SDK Android, Eclipse .
