Increase page numbers in LaTeX Beamer

Question

in LaTeX Beamer, the total number of slides includes those that contain only the table of contents in front of each section / unit, which unnecessarily increases the total number of slides. Is there any way to prevent this?

In other words: I do not want slides containing TOC to have page numbers.

Add line

\addtocounter{framenumber}{-1}

for each frame that you want to exclude from the total.
