Do crawlers decode html objects?

I was wondering if scanners and robots can decode html objects, for example, in my html, I have something like:

salariés
Do they read it like that? or something like:
salariés

Which option is better for SEO?

I would say that we can safely assume that HTML objects are properly decoded. They are valid HTML, and a crawler that does not decrypt them will ultimately have tons of broken content.

Most searchers will decode your entities because they need clear text to compute data and extract information.
